Plan D

How things have changed.

Now, I like this plan a lot. It means I can talk to people and show others the differences of how life is now compared to other generations when they were ages 16 to 21. I plan to interview at least one person from each generation (there are three generations I can talk to) and ask them a series of questions and get them to elaborate certain answers. What I may do is get photos of them and put the audio over the photos.

Think of questions:-

-What was it like when you were aged 16-20?
-What kind of media had the biggest influence during this time?-How has society changed since then?
-Is there anything that hasn’t changed?
-How was the social scene?
-What sort of social activities did you do?
-What is the opinion of the youth today?

What to do:-
-Talk to people who could be in the video
-Arrange to meet with them
-Give them questions to look at
-Record the interview on the eddiroll and camera
-Give the camera and eddiroll five seconds before letting them speak- so it can be synced
-Edit my voice out
-Look at footage and see what can be added
-Go back to people and re-record

Timeline:-

  • Wed- Call people to see if they will be in the video
  • Thurs- Go to people and record
  • Fri- Record
  • Sat- Carry on recording
  • Sun- Have a break
  • Mon- Edit
  • Tue- Re-record
  • Wed- Edit
  • Thur- Edit
  • Fri- Edit
  • Sat-
  • Sun- Sort out any bumps in the audio-visual
  • Mon- Hand in

Who will be in it:-

  • My grandad
  • Or Nanan
  • My mum
  • Or Dad
  • My brother

Plan C/D

So, my plan B may fail due to phones not working (not sending important information) as the next schedule may be too late.

My plan is the Life of a Dog.

Basically, to carry on my theme of dogs, I would video my dog and give the story of how we got him and he got a new dog as a friend. I would use videos and photos to show how they have grown and then use text on the video to be used as the speech. The sound would be of the dogs playing.

I would rather not do this as for me it feels quite cringe and it honestly just doesn’t click with me. I have been talking with other people about what I could do and something I thought of was interviewing different generations and comparing what life was like then and what it is like now.

Project development

19/01/17
-Got plan sorted and went home to do test shots of dogs (for a similar situation to the 8Below). The videos I got were a little too quiet for my liking.

20/01/17
-Finished plan and went home to do more test shots but on a camera and the use of an Eddiroll.

21-22/01/17
-More test shots

23/01/17
-Look at shots, compare and see what is best

25/01/17
-Take more shots if needed/edit into video to see how it is at video and see what sounds could be used

26/01/17
-Create sound/look up if needed. Go onto Premiere and try test video and audio. What can I do to make the quality better? How can I make the audio better?

28/01/17
-Do actual shoot

Comparison

TBD

My camera-

My Sony Cybershot’s video isn’t too bad but I would prefer better quality. I think that if I used a tripod then it would make the camera more stable thus getting a clearer image. The sound is pretty quiet on the camera but I can use an Eddiroll to amplify the sound.

Canon-

The canon is very good for image quality in my opinion but picked up no sound at all. Again, I could use the Eddiroll to get the sound.

Eddiroll-

The eddiroll really is good for sound. For my tests, I managed to get audio of my dogs snoring and it was really good quality- this means that when the huskies make a sound I will be able to get very good audio. The sound is very important as they are vocal and I will be doing interviews.

Production Plan

The video has to be between three and five minutes.

Sound:-
-If there is sound then I think it will be piano work- I want it calm and as background noise

Start
-Title and who it is from- 8Below
-Introduce dog(s)

Beginning/Middle
 -Give story
-Show footage of them playing/running
-Interviews
-I would ask questions like;
-Why this dog?
-Has the dog changed?
-Would you suggest this place to other people?
-What made you adopt?

End
-Give credit to shelter and people who have been in it/helped

Notes:-
-Don’t want it heavily edited/obviously edited
-May make a shorter video (better for adverts) as well- depends on what 8Below want
-Most rescue adds are a minute long

When Do I take footage?
-Should be the weekend of the 28th/will be discussed

What do I need?
-The paddock
-Talk to adopters/potential adopters
-Back story
-The dogs

Restrictions:
-Cannot take photos or videos of kennels as they are private

Plan C

-The life of a dog (my dog)
Basically, to carry on my theme of dogs, I would video my dog and give the story of how we got him and he got a new dog as a friend. I would use videos and photos to show how they have grown and use text on the video to be used as the speech. The sound would be of the dogs playing.

Now, this idea is my last resort and I doubt that I will need to use this idea. I like this idea but not as much as I like the idea of 8below.

Main idea

My main idea is to do footage of the rescue dogs at 8 below. My reasoning for this is because I picked this and another rescue to do but that rescue had to decline as they were too busy. This was fine. I decided to do animals as I love them and I rescued one from the shelter that had declined me. Showing people how animals can need help and promoting 8 below means that more dogs could be adopted. It also shows what can happen to dogs in certain homes.

I want images and videos of the dogs play, eating, having walks, etc. I will practice taking videos and photos of my own dogs so I can see how it would work and see what I would need to use to alter/amplify certain aspects (eg. sound). My practice shots will be in the garden/woods and the actual shots would be at the shelter. It shouldn’t take long to film- maybe a couple of hours over different days to get various shots.

My target audience is animal lovers and the general public. The animal lovers would love it as it is about dogs and the general public would see what it is like in shelters and how they need to be adopted.

Rain Rescue and 8 Below

Both rescues are in South Yorkshire and quite close to where I live so access to them isn’t that hard (unless I go on bus- then that is where it gets difficult)

Rain Rescue
– Rescues Cats and Dogs
-Needs as much help as possible
-Makes sure the animals are healthy and will be looked after

8 Below
-Rescues Sled dogs
-Receives no help from the government- needs as much help as possible
-Does medical help
-Makes sure the dogs are going to be looked after
